Description: All submissions must include a copy of the candidate's
unexpired driver's license. The unit consists of 30 beds, which
includes 14 private rooms and 16 semi-private rooms. The goal for
nurse-to-patient ratios is 1:4; however, they usually run at 1:5
and occasionally 1:6. Charge nurses take a full patient assignment
on both day and night shifts. Charge nurses have the support of a
clinical assistant who works with a patient assignment and assists
in the office. There are usually 2-3 certified nursing assistants
on the unit, with ratios of 1:10-12. Weekend requirements include
working four weekend shifts every four-week schedule, either on
days or nights. Staff are expected to work a minimum of three night
shifts over the four-week schedule. Holidays are generally covered
by permanent staff, but travelers must be flexible if needed.
Registered nurses must wear navy blue scrubs and jackets, with no
hoodies permitted. While telemetry technicians are available,
registered nurses must be able to read and interpret their own
telemetry strips. Registered nurses are required to titrate various
drips, including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine,
Labetolol, Nitro, and Heparin. All respiratory equipment is managed
by the respiratory therapy department. There is a hospitalist on
duty 24/7 along with an intensivist in the ICU. An in-house IV team
is available around the clock to assist with IV starts. Flexible
scheduling allows staff to self-schedule as long as unit needs are
met, with up to four requested days off per month. Staff may be
required to float to other units as needed, with possible ratios up
to 1:6 or 1:7 in medical-surgical settings. The first two days of
orientation involve time with HR and working alongside a preceptor.
Common diagnoses and types of patients include chest pain, heart
failure, arrhythmias, and various post-procedural patients.
Attendance policies are strict, and employees must follow proper
protocols for any emergency absences. The charting system used is
