home here! Integration Across Quality & Safety Domains This role
requires flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to support
multiple pillars of hospital quality . The Improvement Specialist
works across all domains listed below, shifting focus based on
organizational needs, emerging risk, regulatory requirements, and
real?time operational priorities. Core Areas of Integration: ·
Patient Safety: Lead or support safety event reviews, root cause
analyses (RCA), harm?reduction strategies, and trend mitigation. ·
Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services: Support interpretation,
implementation, and ongoing compliance with CMS Conditions of
Participation (CoPs), quality programs, and reporting requirements.
· Risk Management: Collaborate on event investigations, support
legal reviews, and ensure consistent documentation and compliance.
· Infection Prevention: Partner to address hospital?acquired
infection trends, support prevention initiatives, and integrate
best practices into clinical workflows. · Regulatory Affairs &
Stroke: Support readiness for Department of Health, The Joint
Commission, and disease?specific certification standards, including
stroke. · Compliance & Privacy: Assist with documentation audits,
compliance reviews, billing accuracy, and HIPAA?aligned processes.
· Patient Relations: Review patient feedback themes and collaborate
on experience?driven improvements. · Physician Peer Review: Prepare
case information, coordinate physician review processes, and
identify performance trends. Additional Responsibilities: · Lead
and coordinate multidisciplinary improvement projects that enhance
patient outcomes, workflow efficiency, and regulatory compliance. ·
Support hospital?wide readiness for accreditation and regulatory
surveys through documentation, data tracking, and gap mitigation. ·
Analyze data, identify trends, and communicate insights to leaders,
clinical teams, and committees. · Facilitate collaboration across
departments to ensure patient?centered, compliant, and efficient
care delivery. · Serve as a resource for change?management
strategies and promote a culture of continuous improvement. •
Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Business Administration or related
field required at time of hire/transfer, Master's degree in
Business Administration preferred. • 5 years of related experience
required Knowledge of information systems and process improvement
techniques. • Must be able to demonstrate skills to understand and
interpret data • Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring
relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician
providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and
patients/families. • Ability to work productively and effectively
within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities
and specialized equipment. • Exemplary critical thinking,
analytical and problem solving abilities required as related to
various aspects of patient care. Critical thinking skills necessary
to exercise and to lead others. • Mobility and visual manual
dexterity. • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing,
lifting. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: • UPMC approved
national certification preferred. • NIH Stroke Scale and Modified
Rankin Score certifications are required within 3 months of hire •
