Job Description:

Job Title: Director, Fleet Management Reports To: VP of Distribution Operational ExcellencePrimary Duties:

  • Direct responsibility for the day to day management of both heavy duty delivery equipment, and light duty sales vehicles.
  • Responsible for delivery equipment specification and acquisition process.
  • Be an active participant in annual budgeting process for supply centers
  • Work with centers to understand their delivery equipment needs, and actively suggest appropriate solutions.
  • Manage the vendor RFP process to deliver the lowest possible acquisition cost.
  • Assist in deployment of new equipment - ensuring success through training, ongoing support and management of proper use.
  • Ensure compliance to DOT regulations
  • Ongoing management of the company's vehicle and equipment maintenance programs
  • Management of Ryder and oversight of their programs
  • Set up and management of vendors to support other delivery equipment (booms, truck mounted forklifts, conveyors, etc..).
  • Significant stake holder in equipment training process.
  • Work with Safety Manager to administer and conduct training for delivery equipment (Booms, Truck mounted forklifts, conveyors, lift gates, securing loads, etc..)
  • Ensure compliance with NCCCO certification for boom operators.
  • Responsible for light duty fleet specification and acquisition process.
  • Administer the ongoing management of the program; actual lease administration, maintenance and fuel card program, dealing with toll and moving violation issues, tracking of PUM (personal use mileage), vehicle relocations, terminations, and lease end turn-in.
  • Administration of fleet technology (truck cameras, telematics, driver metrics, etc.)
  • Development of key metrics that can be used to ensure a well optimized fleet.QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: --- 10 years transportation operations or procurement and Transportation Management experience. --- Bachelor or MBA Degree in Transportation, Logistics, or Business related preferred --- 10-15 years prior transportation management experience --- Specialized transportation expertise with DOT regulations and compliance, trailer leasing, and fleet management --- 5 years manager level experience. --- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to communicate with all levels and departments both within and outside the company. --- Working knowledge of MS Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint --- Skillful negotiator
