Position Type: Student Support Services/Guidance CounselorDate Posted: 6/3/2022Location: Summit ESC Member Districts/SchoolsClosing Date: 06/17/2022Student Wellness Counselor, Nordonia Hills City Schools Part-time, Term: 2022-23 school year Reports to: Student Wellness Coordinator Position Description: The Student Wellness Counselor is responsible for supporting building, district, and community programming that is focused on meeting the needs of the whole child and assists the Student Wellness Coordinator with design, implementation, and evaluation of such programs. Primary Responsibilities Direct Service Provides individual mental health and substance use counseling to students K-12. Counsels parents, guardians and families to enhance home and school support of students. Facilitation of support and skill building groups. Delivers Adolescent Depression Awareness Program curriculum to 9th grade health students. Participates in the School Absence Intervention Team. Supports assigned students in ReuKNIGHTED Re-Entry Support. Supports assigned students in MMSAP for 9th-12th grade students. Member of CAST Teams district-wide Participates in IEP/504 meetings as needed. Administers Alcohol, Nicotine and Other Drug Violence Screening Tool (SASS!) to 7th-12th grade students as needed. Assists with Youth to Youth, Mental Health Ambassadors , and Date Knights as assigned by the coordinator. Indirect Service Member or co-facilitator of Mental Health Crisis Team Consults on Mental Health Threat Assessment Response Assists with implementation of 7 Mindsets SEL program Assists in bullying prevention programming and policy practice as requested. Assists with Title VI and Title IX policy practice as requested Provides support and guidance to social work and clinical counseling interns as assigned. Secondary Responsibilities Provides guidance on whole child concerns to district and building staff . Participates in building and district leadership meetings as requested. Provides professional development to district and building staff. Collaborates with staff to provide an environment that supports the whole child. Assists with Safe Decisions Week as assigned Participates in Health and Resource Fairs as assigned Participates in school and commun ity committees as assigned. Documents student interactions and completes assigned paperwork as required. Assists Student Wellness Coordinator with data collection requirements as requested. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in human service related field (mental health counseling, psychology, sociology, social work, education, etc.) Clinical Licensure Required (LSW, LISW, LPC, LPCC, LICDC) One year professional experience in public education. One year experience working with children and families K-12 in a human service capacity. One year experience working with children and/or adolescents and families with experience in substance use disorders. Experience can be concurrent. Preferred Qualifications Chemical Dependency Certification or Licensure (OCPSA, OCPS, OCPC, COCA, LCDC II, LCDC Ill, LICDC, LICDC-CS) Skills Operate as a member of an interdisciplinary team Ability to build and maintain relationships with students, families, colleagues, administrators, and community members and agencies Ability to maintain confidentiality and trust Ability to advocate on behalf of students, families, colleagues, administrators, and community members and agencies. Ability to identify problems and create solutions Decision-making ability- to identify and evaluation options, anticipate and work toward positive outcomes Ability to remain objective Ability to adapt quickly to changing needs of students, families, colleagues, administrators, and community members and agencies Demonstrates multi-cultural humility Ability to learn and utilize rising technology practices and incorporate them to meet the needs of students, families, colleagues, administrators, and community members and agencies Working knowledge of current best practices for supporting student needs.
