Drivers play a critical role in the execution of this core value in
the eyes of our customers. By the nature of the job that drivers
perform, they become the face of the company to our customers in
professionalism, positive attitude, and on time delivery of our
quality products. Position Responsibilities The truck driver's
responsibilities involve delivery and pick-up, reporting,
operations, service, safety, maintenance, and other duties as
assigned. Delivery and Pickup Delivery and pickup must be done in
the most efficient, economical manner possible. To do this, truck
drivers must: Deliver product to and pick up product from specified
locations. Scan product and obtain a signature. If a customer
representative is not present to sign: Leave in a secure, safe
location. Put your initials in the signature box. Take a picture
with company phone or iPad. Call the customer contact and inform
them of the location. Routes will be assigned based on the needs of
the customer and how the truck was loaded. These routes must be
followed as assigned. If for any reason a driver feels that
deviations are needed, please call your supervisor prior to
changing. 3. Ensure paperwork is organized prior to delivery 4.
Develop and maintain an organized and efficient loading and
unloading system 5. Unload the products being delivered according
to customers' requests 6. Verify all items listed on the customer's
manifest match what is loaded and delivered 7. Designated route
start times are very important to fulfill customer service needs.
The following must be adhered to: Arrive at work on time for the
route you are taking that day. Arrive at your first stop on time.
Return to worksite promptly after completing deliveries. 8. Deliver
100% of items loaded on the truck. If there is an issue that would
keep you from delivering, contact your assigned supervisor and
explain the situation prior to moving on to next stop. 9. Pick up
any items, such as patterns or RMAs, regardless of having other
items to deliver at that location or not 10. No materials or goods
are to be returned for credit without pre-approval (written or
verbal) by your supervisor or approval by the appropriate
department (metal, commercial, etc.) unless the customer requests
that items be returned. If this occurs, please call your supervisor
with the specific information about the items being returned.
Reporting Reporting involves submitting paperwork for all product
deliveries promptly, accurately, and immediately informing your
supervisor of issues needing resolved. Invoice all product
deliveries promptly and accurately. Ensure all deliveries that are
presented to the office are signed and correct. 2. Submit all
signatures verifying delivery to billing. Immediately inform
supervisor of issues needing resolved. 1. Immediately call in any
remakes to the office so production may begin as soon as possible
2. Inform your supervisor of discrepancies in your manifest as soon
as you are aware of them 3. Inform your supervisor of any potential
problems PRIOR to missing or skipping scheduled deliveries or
pickups, and follow their instructions on how to proceed 4. Upon
returning to worksite, report directly to your supervisor or leave
a note for your supervisor as to the return time. 5. Turn in time
sheet at the end of the pay period to your supervisor. Operations
Operations involves assisting in maintaining efficient operations
when not making deliveries or completing paperwork. Drivers must:
Help load products onto trucks prior to delivery if necessary.
During the 15-minute pre/post checklist: Check and verify load is
secure Complete the Inspection Checklist Unload the truck of
anything brought back from the day's delivery route and properly
place the items in the designated areas only. Ensure all items
brought back are clearly marked and notify appropriate personnel of
any instructions needed. If you are assisting in loading the truck,
do not Pre-Scan items on the truck; scan only when loaded. Service
Providing customer service that will result in greater sales. 1.
Greet customers promptly and courteously with a friendly smile and
a hello and thank them for their business. Have a positive and
professional attitude. 2. Assist customers with unloading and
loading 3. Promptly and courteously answer company issued cell
phones. If unable to answer, immediately return calls at the next
stop. Return missed calls and Voice Mails Ensure you always have
room in your Voice Mailbox for new messages. Call customers ahead
of delivery if help is needed to unload or if a call is required by
the customer. 4. Work with customers to resolve problems and report
complaints to your supervisor 5. Be neat and do not wear articles
of clothing that may be seen as offensive to any customers (this
includes clothing with profanity, other customers' names, etc.) 6.
Visually inspect product being delivered for cleanliness, seals,
etc. Safety and Maintenance Safety and maintenance involves
delivering orders safely, following regulations, and safely
operating and maintaining the delivery vehicle. Deliver orders
safely. Wear proper safety equipment (PPE) when on company time:
Proper safety equipment (PPE) includes but is not limited to High
Visibility Cut Resistant Shirt, Safety Toed Shoes, Safety
Glasses/Glasses with Side Shields and Cut Resistant Gloves.
*(Exception-Drivers should not wear side shields or safety glasses
in the truck cab if it impairs their vision. Glasses/Side shields
must be worn before exiting the truck cab.) While on construction
sites drivers must wear a Hard Hat and a High Visibility Reflective
Vest in addition to the above-listed safety equipment. 2. Use
extreme caution while driving on customer's property 3. Avoid
damage to customers' buildings, docks, or property when positioning
for unloading 4. Clean up any breakage and spillage that occurs 5.
If necessary, ensure facility is closed and secure when delivery is
complete 6. Observe and report any unusual activity, problems, and
customers' complaints to your supervisor 7. Leave deliveries in a
position that will not injure people or damage property 8. Always
have an incident report on hand. 9. If you are in an accident or
damage someone's property, fill out an incident report, take
pictures of the damage, and notify your supervisor immediately. 10.
If you are injured and need medical attention immediately, seek out
medical attention. If you do not need immediate medical attention,
call your supervisor immediately for further instructions. Follow
regulations. 1. Observe OSHA, state, and federal safety regulations
2. Follow all company and regulatory agency safety policies, to
include passing employer required drug screen(s). 3. Maintain a
regular driver's license and medical card. 4. Maintain a valid
commercial driver's license (if applicable) 5. Complete pre-use
inspections for your Moffett every shift you use it. 6. Complete
Monthly Knuckle Boom Inspections for your Knuckle Boom. 7. Knuckle
Boom Operators must maintain a NCCCO Articulating Boom Crane
Operator Certification. 8. Ensure your Moffett and/or Knuckle Boom
has an up-to-date annual certified inspection. Operate delivery
vehicle safely. 1. Obey all traffic laws, including: driving within
posted speed limits stopping and looking for traffic at all stop
signs obeying cell phone laws obeying posted weight limits 2. Drive
defensively 3. Report any unsafe equipment or working conditions to
your supervisor 4. No riders are allowed unless it has been
approved by your supervisor and the driver has filled out, signed,
and returned a waiver form to your supervisor. Maintain the
delivery vehicle. Wash vehicle as weather and operating conditions
require to maintain a clean vehicle. Vehicles must be washed by
appointment at Over-the-Top Truck Wash (19 Grant Avenue, Butler, Pa
16002) ONLY. You are allotted 1.5 hours to wash your truck from
start to finish. Know the required regular vehicle maintenance
schedule provided by your supervisor and notify them when the
appropriate mileage or time has been reached for service to be
performed. Thoroughly perform the daily pre and post trip
inspections and return the forms to the designated place. 4. Report
any needed repairs or special maintenance to your supervisor
immediately 5. Clean inside the cab and remove any glass or trash
from the cab or bed of your truck daily. 6. DEF fuel must be added
to all trucks that require this fluid 7. When the weather reaches
20 Degrees Fahrenheit you must add AntiGel to ALL trucks and plug
in the core heater at night 8. If the ELD has been unplugged for
any reason during your daily run, disciplinary actions will be
taken. Other Duties Follow all of the company's policies and
procedures. No tobacco of any kind is allowed to be used in Company
vehicles. Promptly return calls of your supervisor or customer
service people. Any non-driving work hours must be approved by your
