1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a
Cardiac/Telemetry Stepdown position at a Level II Trauma facility
in West Virginia, requiring drip titration experience and nights
availability. Details - Work in a 29-bed Cardiac/Telemetry Stepdown
unit (7N) at an acute care, Level II Trauma facility - Patient
population includes cardiac patients, post-cath, AMI, post-op lung
surgeries (after CCU discharge), respiratory failure, chest tubes,
pacemakers, and post-PCI patients - Nursing ratio of 1:5-6 - CNA
support available (ideally 1 CNA per 12 patients; typically 3 on
days, 2 on nights) - Charge nurse available 24/7; day charge does
not take a patient assignment, night charge does - Cardiac drips
include titratables such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine,
Dopamine, Integrelin, Heparin, Ativan, Lasix, and Nitro (up to 50
mcg) - Philips telemetry monitors in use; RNs are required to read
and interpret their own strips - CPAP and BiPAP present on unit;
managed by Respiratory Therapy - Charting performed in Epic -
12-hour night shifts (7p–7a) - Every-other-weekend requirement
(Saturday and Sunday) - Holidays worked in rotation with permanent
staff - Floating may be required to other Med/Surg Tele units -
13-week contract Requirements - Active WV RN license or compact RN
license required - Current BLS and ACLS certifications required -
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required - EKG testing required
for this Stepdown unit - Ability to titrate drips is a strict
requirement - Telemetry strip reading and interpretation experience
required - Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the
facility to be eligible Additional Information - Royal blue scrubs
required - Artificial/false nails are not permitted - Travelers who
have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken
a minimum 2-year break before returning - Travelers may not work
within the WVU system for longer than one cumulative year before
taking a 2-year break - All candidates will interview directly with
the unit manager - Submission profile must include 7 years of work
history (or from graduation, whichever is less), 2 references
(including 1 supervisor), a skills checklist completed within the
past year, and copies of certifications and driver's license
