with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Wheeling, West
Virginia, 26003! Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN
(Registered Nurse) Specialty: Intermediate Care Unit - Stepdown
Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day/Night Rotate Hours per Shift:
12 hours per shift, guaranteed 36 hours per week Experience:
Minimum of 2 years License: Valid RN license required
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Ability to titrate
drips and interpret telemetry strips Description: The unit has a
goal patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4, though it typically runs at
1:5. Occasionally, the ratio may increase to 1:6. Charge nurses
take a full patient assignment on both day and night shifts. There
are usually 2-3 CNA's with ratios of 1:10 to 1:12. Weekend shifts
include Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Nurses working day shifts
must complete a minimum of 3 night shifts in a 4-week schedule.
Shifts begin promptly at 6:45 AM or 6:45 PM. Nurses may be required
to float to other units as needed. Common patient diagnoses include
chest pain, heart failure, arrhythmias, and post-procedure care.
The team includes respiratory therapists and an IV team available
24/7. Patients on drips such as Amiodarone and Nitro are managed
according to protocols. Nurses are expected to be flexible with
holiday scheduling. Staff is allowed 4 requested days off per
month. Self-scheduling is permitted as long as unit needs are met.
Duties may involve managing patients on specialized therapy and
checks for groin access post-procedures. All charting is completed
using a designated electronic system. The first day of orientation
includes a few hours with HR before hands-on training on the unit.
This role includes a mix of established staff and new personnel for
