With a variety of rewarding and challenging opportunities, Sherwin-Williams is a great place to find a career that takes you places.The Lead Release Management Specialist position will be responsible for implementation and continuous improvement of processes and procedures for the Microsoft Windows as a Services (WaaS) and Office 365 (O365) platforms. The candidate will be responsible for planning, coordination and oversight of Microsoft releases, patches, and emergency change requests.This role will work across the Digital Initiatives organization to partner with key technology teams and work closely across divisional IT teams to plan and coordinate the development and implementation of enterprise-wide lifecycle updates & releases of the Microsoft platform. This role will lead the development of sustainable processes for early adopter and pilot testing of new foundational and incremental updates in the Microsoft environment including: new features, security updates, policy options. The Lead Release Management Specialist will drive engagement across divisional IT teams to certify functionality across critical business applications.The role will focus on release management and impact analysis. In addition to coordinating technology forecasting and planning efforts, the candidate will be required to prioritize a positive employee experience through all deployment releases.Essential FunctionsStrategy & Planning* Lead the design, transition, release, and communication of new or changed IT services, while driving continuous service improvement.* Promote platform currency and develop sustainable process and procedures for application teams to support Windows as a Service (WaaS) lifecycle initiatives.* Establish the O365 ProPlus release management processes including critical application / add-in testing.* Collaborate with key technology teams (Security, Support etc.) to drive currency on ProPlus release, operating platform, browser, and endpoint security suite.* Analyze opportunities and provide recommendations for projects in support of advancing Digital Initiative strategies.* Utilize a continuous improvement approach to release management.* Implement the appropriate strategies for controlling and migrating changes through the environments, ensuring there are repeatable processes with sound change management.* Define and manage release readiness and success criteria based on business requirements.* Define and support a standard migration (deployment) process, including how to handle rollbacks and hotfixes.* Understand and make recommendations to improve reliability and sustainability of regular configuration and deployment activities for the enterprise.Acquisition & Deployment* Lead, support, and optimize the ongoing deployment() of Digital Initiatives organization.* Support environment integrity.* Address scalability of deployment solutions.* Mitigate risks associated with deployments through the environment.* Develop contingency plans in the event of failed deployments.* Identify migration tasks that must be completed and their associated timeline.* Define and own release schedules and milestones.* Implement best practices consistent with an agile development methodology.* Manage change control processes for a release.* Proactively identify and mitigate risks and remove obstacles to release.* Guide the completion of root cause analysis to ensure issues do not reoccur.* Communicate plans and status, and escalate issues as required.* Coordinate product releases, ensuring cross-team communication.Operational Management* Create broad awareness of planned technology updates through the ongoing management and presentation of roadmaps to global IT leadership and teams.* Lead the team to manage program roadblocks, technical constraints, end user impact.* Develop reports, analyze data, and provide recommendations for solutions to tactical and strategic opportunities and challenges.* Collaborate globally to unify, improve and expand release management processes.* Support integration of the next generation digital workplace platform.* Coach and guide technical and operations staff to troubleshoot environment issues.* Track and coordinate defect resolution across the life of an issue.* Capture data and build metrics reports to communicate quality of releases and to help drive the continuous improvement of the release process over time.Incidental Functions* Lead Change Management preparations and implementations.* Lead meetings in participation with the team, clients, peers and/or management.* Assist with other projects as may be required to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Digital Initiatives organization.* Build and cultivate relationships with vendors used by the Digital Initiatives organization.* Conduct research into new technologies, including tools, components, and frameworks.* Mentor and coach fellow team members to follow good configuration processes.* Project and task management and reporting as necessary.* Prepare presentations to multiple levels of management, clients, and peer groups as requested.* Some travel (15%) as required.* Work outside the standard office 7.5-hour workday as required.Position RequirementsFormal Education & Certification* Bachelor's Degree or foreign equivalent in a related field or equivalent experience.* Project/release management certifications preferred but not required.* Microsoft certifications preferred.Knowledge & Experience* 8 years IT experience* 8 years of experience working across the Software Development Lifecycle (ex: experience with technical and operations teams, and/or existing Release Management role)* 3 years' experience with release management* 3 years' experience supporting large global projects including experience collaborating with work teams in a global environment.* 3 years' experience with O365 or modern Microsoft operating systems and Windows as a Service preferred* Working knowledge of device management technologies such as SCCM, Ivaniti, AirWatch, Intune, etc.* A proven track record with release management tools and concepts.* Experience using agile project management methodology* Experience working with cross-functional teams and application owners.Personal Attributes* Demonstrated leadership ability.* Outstanding verbal and written
