Job Description:

Overview The Communications Manager will oversee the development of internal and external communications for Associated Materials (AM), ensuring consistent messaging and accurate representation of the Company and its product brands. This role is intended to connect with AM---s more than 4,000 employees across manufacturing, distribution and corporate locations in the United States and Canada, driving an understanding of AM business strategies, transformation activities and company performance. The communications manager will work with colleagues in marketing and other applicable functions, as well as key members of the leadership team, to support strategic initiatives intended to enhance engagement with Company employees and members of the media. The Communications Manager will report to the Director of Marketing. Objectives and Scope of Responsibility -- Create compelling messaging to support AM strategy and its mission, vision, and values -- Build a comprehensive internal communications plan to engage and inform employees -- Ensure the Company engages in positive interactions with media personnel and members of the public -- Oversee the Company---s internal communications channels and social media presence -- Help manage Company events, including but not limited to, employee townhalls, appreciation events, etc. -- Lead overall communications efforts to increase brand awareness and aid in reputation management -- Write/ edit content such as blog posts, press releases, and internal company announcements -- Work with vendor(s) in developing and executing public relations programs and related efforts -- Help coach senior leaders in developing and executing local communication plans with their teams -- Assist marketing team to help optimize engagement on branded websites -- Support marketing colleagues with additional duties as required -- May be required to perform additional duties as assigned Key Relationships -- Marketing team members: collaborating to establish efficiencies while driving innovation and results that demonstrate our function---s value to the organization and its growth -- Leadership team: assisting members of the executive leadership team and other senior team members to help craft engaging communications regarding strategic initiatives and company announcements -- People managers: providing important talking points and business communications to inform, excite and engage the global employee audience -- Public relations agency and media: leveraging knowledge share and learning best practices for continual improvement EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor---s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field; a master---s degree a plus 5-8 years relevant experience in internal communications, public relations, marketing, marketing communication, or a combination of the above. REQUIRED SKILLS AND BACKGROUND Exceptional communication abilities, including writing, speaking and active listening Understanding of relevant messaging for unique audiences -- In-depth knowledge of best writing and messaging practices for business correspondence, public relations, marketing, etc. -- Excellent internal communication skills, including the ability to prioritize employee needs/requirements, and communicate them cross-functionally -- Working knowledge of crisis communications, as well as communications that support company transactions -- Ability to build relationships, seek to understand and clarify business outcomes, and inspire action -- Great project management skills, including time management, goal-setting, multitasking and prioritization -- Strong cross-functional management skills with demonstrated ability to effectively utilize internal and external resources to meet project deadlines and objectives -- Track record to hold self accountable for actions and results -- High level of motivation with the ability to operate as an individual and team contributor -- Proficient skill in word processing and spreadsheet software, preferably Microsoft products; Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop and MS Project experience will be beneficial -- A self-starter with an ability to work with minimal supervision -- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business circumstance and have the ability to thrive in a constantly changing business environment. -- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
