Job Description Job Description JOB SUMMARY As an Electrical
Estimator, you are responsible for estimating construction projects
in various market segments ranging in size from $2M to $70M. Market
segments could include K-12 Education, Higher Education, Municipal,
Healthcare, and other Commercial Construction Projects. Typical
responsibilities may include providing new bid setup, issuance of
bid documents, tracking subcontractor responses, keeping
subcontractor database up to date, bidding all construction
divisions, keeping estimating statistics, and pricing change
orders. Occasional travel is required for this role, including
[e.g., site visits, client meetings, conferences]. Travel is
typically regional and may account for up to 20% of the time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide electrical and
technology estimating for commercial and K-12 projects. Progress
estimates will include conceptual, programmatic, schematic, design
development and construction document estimates. Read and
understand construction documents including architectural and
electrical. Provide value engineering, life-cycle cost analysis and
facility studies. Provide constructability reviews of drawings and
specifications Coordinate design efforts with the Preconstruction
Manager, Engineers and Developers. Engage with architects and
engineers to develop scope and project requirements Prepare
design-build documents Provide input on the electrical portion of
construction schedules Review and provide edits for division 0 and
1 front end specifications relating to electrical work. Solicit
electrical bids for agency CM and energy projects Review and
evaluate electrical bids Assist in developing written scopes of
work for hard bid and dsign build projects Be part of a team that
will develop performance contract work Update estimating database
with current costs based on vendor quotes and bid results Perform
scope reviews and buyout; writes subcontracts with complete scopes.
Perform electrical on-site inspections to confirm scope details and
resolve constructability issues. Provide electrical support and
troubleshooting for our field staff. Assist with marketing
opportunities Represent the company in a professional manor with
clients, design professionals and contractors. Strive for complete
client satisfaction Track bid results to identify market trends
Evaluates additional project factors like labor needs, potential
setbacks, and budgets. Maintains cost estimating data based
including soliciting updated pricing from various material vendors
and contractors Ensure proper productivity rates and mark-ups are
incorporated into the database. Research new or unfamiliar
materials and methos as appropriate to ensure accurate cost
estimates Work with Preconstruction Manger to prepare instruction
to bidders, bid form, and other bid solicitation information, as
required. Ensure the flow of project information is maintained and
documented. Attend design meetings, coordination meetings, and the
pre-bid meeting as required. Maintain and update Division 1
contract documents for CM and GESA projects as it relates to
electrical trades QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Associate or
bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field or
hands-on experience in electrical trades preferred. Minimum of 6 –
8 years of experience in Electrical project management or
estimating. Minimum 2-5 years electrical estimating experience
Strong knowledge of the local subcontracting community and vendors
who supply building products. Proficiency with all MS Office
Products as well as computer software programs used in estimating.
A valid driver’s license is required for travel related to job
duties. Access to a reliable vehicle may be necessary. Ability to
pass criminal background checks required by PA public schools
WORKING ENVIRONMENT This position operates in both office and field
environments. The design team primarily works in a professional
office setting, collaborating with internal teams, clients,
consultants, and contractors. Daily responsibilities include using
architectural software, participating in design meetings, and
producing detailed drawings and specifications. Standard office
equipment such as computers, phones, and printers are used
regularly. The role also includes periodic visits to construction
sites or client locations, which may expose the employee to varying
weather conditions, active construction zones, and uneven terrain.
During site visits, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
such as hard hats, safety glasses, and closed-toe footwear is
required. Hybrid work arrangements may be available, depending on
