Job Description Job Description Position Summary Kent City School District is seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker – HVAC to support the operation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems across district buildings. This role is essential to maintaining safe, comfortable, and efficient learning environments for students and staff. The ideal candidate has hands-on HVAC experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and takes pride in reliable, preventative maintenance. Key Responsibilities Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems and related equipment Perform preventative maintenance on furnaces, boilers, air handlers, rooftop units, chillers, and control systems Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and complete necessary repairs Respond to work orders and emergency HVAC issues in a timely manner Assist with seasonal system start-ups and shutdowns Replace filters, belts, motors, thermostats, and other components as needed Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed Follow safety standards, building codes, and district policies Work collaboratively with other maintenance staff on facility projects Assist with general maintenance tasks as assigned Qualifications Required: Experience in HVAC maintenance and repair Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability Ability to read and interpret diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals Knowledge of HVAC tools, equipment, and safety practices Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good communication and organizational skills Preferred: HVAC certification or technical training Experience working in schools or commercial/institutional facilities Knowledge of energy-efficient HVAC systems and controls Work Environment & Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials Ability to work in confined spaces, on ladders, and on rooftops Exposure to varying temperatures and mechanical environments Why Join Kent City School District Stable, full-time employment in a community-focused school district Consistent schedule and reliable year-round work Opportunity to make a direct impact on student and staff comfort and safety Supportive facilities team and positive work environment Company Description Kent City Schools is a PK-12 School District in Portage County, Ohio.
