As a member of the Logistics Managed Services group/division, this role of a Senior Specialist, Services will have a specific focus as a Railcar Repair Bill Auditor, responsible for reviewing and verifying the accuracy and compliance of all railcar repair billing and ensuring that invoices from repair shops and vendors adhere to industry standards and the Association of American Railroads (AAR) billing rules. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of rail industry terminology and a keen eye for detail to identify and resolve billing discrepancies. This role reports to the Director of Services and supports the Logistics team by managing the project schedules, managing the risks, and being the central communication hub between all internal and external stakeholders. What will your typical day look like? · Uploading CROP and CHOP files from industry or car owner. · Audit incoming railcar repair invoices and exceptions to verify accuracy and compliance with AAR rules · Review repair estimates to ensure that all repairs are necessary, proper, and correctly billed · Work with internal operations and external repair shops to resolve billing issues and discrepancies in a timely manner · Manage rejection and exception correspondence, issuing counter-billing authority where applicable as well as rebilling for lessee responsible repairs · Maintain accurate and organized billing records for all railcar repairs. · Generate reports on billing processes, performance metrics, and cost-saving initiatives · Stay up-to-date with the latest AAR rules, regulations, and industry best practices. · Collaborate with the accounting and fleet management departments to streamline billing processes · Assist in getting LOA in place to manage customer car repairs · Assist customers by providing required information for preparation Ad Valorem taxes, OT-57 processing, DDCT and destroyed cars You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary. Qualifications What do we want to know about you? · A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is desired · Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in AAR railcar repair billing · Previous experience in a railroad, railcar leasing, or railcar repair environment is highly desirable · Thorough understanding of AAR car repair and billing rules. · Strong analytical, problem-solving, and mathematical abilities. · Exceptional attention to detail and ability to produce error-free work. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills. · Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Excel and relevant billing software (e.g., ExpressYard MMS, iIRX, RailcarRx, CarLogix, etc). · Ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines concurrently. · Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams · Proven experience in technical communication · Excellent verbal and written communication skills Additional Information Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $79100-112800 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
